Fabulous Friday with D

D has a "early release day" from school every third Friday. We have about three hours of "D & Mommy time," and I let D choose our destination and activity.

Today D chose to eat at his favorite restaurant in the mall. This restaurant is only his favorite because there is an elevator that I only allow him to ride when we are customers.

We practiced our table manners, and D did a wonderful job of ordering. We even had visit from the chef who prepared D a special gluten-free pasta dish.

And ... drum roll ... the *special elevator ride*:

After riding every elevator in the mall ... We headed over to D's favorite grocery store. You guessed it, there is an elevator. D is sporting his cool dude sunglasses at this point.

We finished up the fabulous Friday with our first visit to D's school's varsity football game. It was lots of fun for all the boys. Little H was mesmerized by the lights, the colors, the team mascots, and the bright moon in the sky. Here is D with one of his classmates.

D attends a very small school, and the games are "six-man football". It is different from your average Texas high school football, but the parents and students are just as proud. His school also allows any upperclassman to play football and any girls to be cheerleaders -- everyone is included. Also, you gotta love the little town/small school feel to the game ... at one point the announcer actually stated, "It's third down, folks, with a whole buncha yards to go!"

D enjoyed watching the cheerleaders ...

And, the cheerleaders enjoyed seeing D:

It was heartwarming to see the camaraderie in his little school. D's Daddy was particularly happy to see the other kids greet D with enthusiastic high fives. It nearly broke his heart when he heard that these two cheerleaders had asked me, "Will you take our picture with D?"!! Very exciting to see our little boy among his schoolmates.
