Route 66 - West of Amarillo

We finished Route 66 in Texas with a visit to the Midpoint Cafe in Adrian, TX.  The long-time owner of the Cafe is the inspiration for the character Flo in Cars. 

We loved all the vintage signs and memorabilia. 

Henry loved standing in the middle of Route 66.  

We also loved the famous pie in the Midpoint Cafe.  Yum!!  Elvis pie (chocolate, peanut butter and banana), chocolate cream, and whiskey pecan.  

No visit to Route 66 is complete without the Cadillac Ranch.   So silly leaving our mark with spraypaint.  

Dad also got to see the west side of the Sharyland utility transmission towers today.  

We head to Colorado tomorrow.   The high temperature in Amarillo is expected to be 105 degrees tomorrow so we are ready to drive north!
