On the road to North Dakota

We stopped in Belle Fourche, SD today.  It's the geographical center of the United States!!  Hard to believe but they are counting Alaska and Hawaii.  There was a lovely marker with the flags from the U.S.

 

 

We had missed the center of the contiguous United States in Lebanon, KS so we couldn't miss this one!!

The boys enjoyed the original cabin of the first settler of Belle Fourche built in 1876.  

The drive on route 85 was constant rolling hills of nothingness.   

We drove through the tiny town of Amidon, ND where the speed limit plummeted to 25 mph.  We slowed down because you could see the manned highway patrol car from a mile away.  As we approached the patrol car we figured out it was a fake dummy dressed as a cop.  So funny!  The mustache on the dummy brought laughter but not enough to stop for a picture.  You'll have to trust us! Hilarious.  The cop dummy worked on tourists!

We are in Dickinson, ND tonight. Took the boys to a funky dinner spot with every vintage Coca Cola sign ever made and every vintage ad you can remember.  It was fun.  This one "Drink Squirt" sign reminded me of H!  He sat in front of it for dinner but refused to pose for a picture with it.
